Jay's Story
Jay Patel serves as Co-Chief Investment Officer of Pavaki Capital, where he directs the firm’s investment strategy across sectors and asset classes.
He earned a BS in Biochemistry from Brandeis University and an MD/PhD from Georgetown University, where his doctoral research focused on tumor biology, immunology, and aging. After completing an internal medicine internship at the University of Utah, he chose to transition from clinical medicine into finance.
Jay’s scientific training instilled a disciplined framework for analyzing complex systems, evaluating causality, and making decisions under uncertainty. He applies these same analytical principles to investment research, focusing on the underlying drivers of business performance, valuation, and long-term capital allocation. Jay recently completed the Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) certification program, further strengthening his expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and corporate finance.
While Pavaki Capital maintains a generalist investment mandate, Jay’s scientific background provides particular insight into the biopharmaceutical sector, enabling him to evaluate the underlying mechanisms, risks, and long-term potential of emerging therapies and medical technologies.
